"We were okay today. On the short runs the handling and speed were pretty good but on the longer runs I would get tighter and tighter. We have some work to do before we come back to Phoenix in the Fall. We will build on what we learned this weekend and continue to get better. Onto Fontana next weekend."

- Nemechek and the No. 23 team will utilize chassis no. 216. This chassis has been raced three times by Spencer Gallagher in the 2017 season. Once at Pocono Raceway (Start: 14th/Finish: 18th), another at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (Start: 20th/Finish: 28th) and at ISM Raceway (Start: 19th/Finish: 17th).

“ISM Raceway is a lot different now since they modified the track layout. If you’re mid-pack, it’s super difficult to pass. You can make up a little time from cutting the ‘dog-leg’ after the start-finish line but it’s really hard to do as far as being on throttle and having to drive around the corner. If you are in the top-five or you’re the leader and can get away from the pack, you can be a half a straightaway ahead in a lap from how good of a restart you can get or if you don’t get a good restart then you’re four-wide going into Turn 1. It’s insane for the drivers but I’m sure it makes the spectating more exciting. Last year in the Fall Phoenix race I got my first Xfinity Series pole so hopefully we can start up front again this year and get this Fire Alarm Services Chevrolet in Victory Lane.”

“I felt like we gave Kyle (Busch) a run for his money today. I was hoping that Austin (Dillion) would have been able to give me a push there on the last restart but the No. 1 was on his quarter panel pulling him back and he wasn’t able to get to my bumper to help. I am proud of this GMS Racing team though. We didn’t unload where we needed to be on Friday but Chad (Norris, crew chief) and the boys worked really hard to get the car where it needed to be in race trim. We had a great car for the short runs and I could gain a lot of spots on the restarts. We will take this momentum and run with it.”

"It just wasn't our day. We lost some track position on pit road and then I spun out with only a few laps to go and we just couldn't recover from that. I'm proud of this GMS Racing team though. They worked really hard this weekend during practice to get the Fire Alarm Services Chevrolet where it needed to be in race trim. We will keep our heads up, regroup and focus on the west coast swing."

We had a fast No. 23 Fire Alarm Services Chevrolet but just didn't get the opportunity to get up front and fight for the win. I wanted to get down and run the bottom line but every time I tried I would fall to the back of the pack and would lose a lot of track position which was crucial today since passing was minimal.
